History of the Department

The Scientific Researches, Innovations, and Scientific-Pedagogical Personnel Preparation Department at Bukhara State Medical Institute has had the following heads over the years:

  • 2019–2020 – N.Sh. Ahmedova
  • 2020–2021 – A.A. Raufov
  • 2021–2022 – F.I. Ibragimova
  • 2022–2023 – Aripova Feruza Shopulatovna
  • From 2024 – Sulaymonova Gulnoza Tulkinjanovna (current head)

About the Department

This department is one of the main structural units of the institute. It operates according to the institute’s charter and organizes its activities based on the orders and decisions of the Rector and the Scientific Council.

In recent years, the department has focused on meeting new objectives in the training of highly qualified scientific and pedagogical personnel. Today, there is a growing need in Uzbekistan for specialists not only in high-tech industries but also in scientific, educational, and service sectors.

The department oversees the preparation of scientific and pedagogical personnel through:

  • Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) programs
  • Doctor of Science (DSc) programs
  • Independent PhD and DSc studies

As of June 1, 2022, the institute had:

  • 75 basic doctoral students
  • 5 doctoral students
  • 196 independent PhD candidates
  • 37 independent DSc seekers

The department organizes scientific councils to award PhD and DSc degrees. Over two years, more than 50 dissertation defenses were conducted, including 93 PhD and 12 DSc dissertations.

Goals and Functions of the Department

The department operates in line with:

  • Presidential Decree No. PF-4958 (Feb 16, 2017) on improving Uzbekistan’s higher education system
  • Decision No. 304 of the Ministry of Higher and Secondary Specialized Education

Its main functions include:

  • Efficient use of the scientific potential of the institute to solve medical, technical, and clinical problems.
  • Involving specialists in scientific research to strengthen their potential.
  • Applying scientific developments in teaching and practice.
  • Conducting scientific research funded by grants and contracts beyond the state budget.
  • Organizing scientific seminars and conferences, fostering international collaboration with foreign institutions and scientific centers.
  • Promoting scientific and technical products resulting from research to customers.
  • Providing integrated training of scientific and scientific-pedagogical personnel through a unified program, ensuring the preparation of highly qualified specialists.
  • Fundamentally reforming the scientific and pedagogical personnel preparation system to enhance quality and efficiency.
